Use the table to work out which laser printer will work best for you and which one makes the most cost-effective choice.

Not all laser features offer the same features, but all need to print well. To make an assessment of the print quality, use the star rating in the table but also check the print resolution, too, since this can directly effect the quality of the printed output. Most laser printers print fast – certainly when compared to inkjet devices – but they don’t all print at the same speed. In busy offices, quick printing is essential, so check out the paper handling which is measured in sheets of paper per minute.

Colour laser printers are great if you need to produce sheets of paper that have colourful logos or photographs. Not all of the printers in the table have the capability of colour printing so make sure you check this, if you require coloured images. Most colour laser printers have different speeds when it comes to printing black and white images compared to full colour ones, so a speed rating has been noted in the table as well.

Laser printers tend to be used in shared computer networks, like offices, so memory capacity is another important factor to consider. If you have lots of print jobs sent to the printer at one time, then it will need a high level of memory to store each job and to print each in turn. For larger offices, select a laser printer with a greater memory capacity.
